On May 5, 2022, representatives of Community Advocacy Coalition (CAC) were accepted the prestigious Dr. Richard R. Rush Community Service Award from California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI). In attendance to receive the award on behalf of CAC were Directors, Dr. Angela Timmons, and Byron K. Ward. CAC was recognized for its contributions and collaboration with the university's Center for Community Engagement. One of the major projects recognized was the initial community survey and report detailing findings with regard to the attitudes and opinions of the community members surveyed regarding the local African American citizens' state of affairs.
Also, recognized was CAC's sister community based-organization, the Juneteenth Celebration of Ventura County (JCVC). The Forgotten Images exhibit was brought to the campus by JCVC. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Landers accepted on behalf of JCVC.
